These posts have been very informative and helpful. I have been feeding my golden retriever according to the prey animal model (or so I thought) for about 5 years (since he was about 9 months old - mostly because of very discouraging digestive problems). He is quite healthy and happy today. I do have some questions about Darwin food. I noticed there is no fruit listed, no broccoli or the like. Is there a reason for this? Also no digestive enzymes. I thought animals in the wild got those enzymes from the stomach contents of prey animals and so needed to be added by us humans when feeding companion animals. I have also been giving joint protection stuff like glucosamine because of breed vulnerabilities. Is this not necessary when feeding raw, as Darwin? And how about fish oil? One last thing - we have been giving our dog raw meaty bones such as chicken backs. Is this necessary? Is it acceptable? Ty loves them!!
Thanks so much. This information will be very helpful for me.
Diane Lakata

Very good information. My dog responds well to walks without a leash. I follow the other suggestions as well. Thanks for sharing.
