Most Americans don't know their dog is overweight.

According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention's annual study, 55.6% of dogs in the US are obese. That's over 100 million pets.

Causes of obesity vary, the most common being a dog's diet and exercise plan. Simply put, it's up to a dog's owner to ensure their pet lives an active, healthy life.

We surveyed dog owners, to find out how much they know about pet nutrition and what steps they were taking to keep them active. What we found is that most owners don't consider weight to be a concern. Most even thought their dog was already the ideal weight.
