Why Choose a Slow Feeder Dog Bowl?

Choosing a slow feeder dog bowl is essential for pet owners who prioritize their furry friends' health. A slow feeder dog encourages a more natural eating pace, helping to prevent issues like bloating and obesity. By utilizing specially designed compartments and obstacles, these bowls slow down your pet’s feeding time significantly. Over time, you’ll notice improvements not only in their digestion but also in their overall behavior and eating habits. With many designs available, you can choose a bowl that fits your pet’s personality while also supporting their health needs.

Many pet owners have reported that using a slow feeder dog bowl has led to positive dietary changes. Dogs tend to eat their food much faster than they should, leading to discomfort and even medical issues. By slowing down their eating, you can help prevent conditions such as choking or pancreatitis. Additionally, slow feeders can turn mealtime into a fun, engaging activity that stimulates your pet’s instincts. This transformation creates a healthier dining experience, making it a worthwhile investment in your pet’s overall well-being.

Investing in a slow feeder dog bowl can also offer long-term financial benefits. By promoting slower eating and better digestion, you can potentially reduce vet visits for issues related to overeating. These bowls are designed with various materials that are durable and easy to clean, ensuring that they stand the test of time. When considering the right bowl for your pet, look for features like non-slip bases and dishwasher-safe designs for added convenience. With the right slow feeder, you can ensure your pet enjoys their meals safely and healthily.

Feeding Guidelines

As a general rule, an adult pet should consume about 2-3% of their ideal body weight of Darwin’s raw food per day. Typically, smaller pets should eat a higher percentage of their body weight, while larger pets should eat a lower percentage.

Our feeding chart can help you see the specific daily amounts based on weight.  This chart is a true for most pets but customers should monitor their pet’s weight to determine if they need to adjust from the recommended amounts.

Transition Phase

Adjusting to any new diet takes some time, and it’s important to transition gradually away from what you were feeding before. The very first step to transitioning is understanding that every pet is different.

Many dogs immediately take to the raw meals, but we recommend starting slowly to allow them to adjust to the new diet. A slower transition may also be needed for pets with sensitive tummies.

Day 1-3: Start by mixing 25% Darwin's with 75% of your pet's previous food.

Day 4-6: Half-way through the first week, increase the amount of Darwin's to 50%

Day 7-9: By week 2, feed mostly Darwin's

Day 10: Around day 10, most pets are ready for 100% Darwin's.

Note that Cats generally transition slower and often need to start with a very small amount of Darwin’s

FAQs

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes! We offer free shipping to most of the US on all orders over 20 lbs.

Who formulates your recipes?

Our recipes are formulated with top experts, veterinarians, and veterinary nutritionists. All of our recipes are reviewed and approved by our advisory panel of vets and vet nutritionists.

Are you ingredients ethically sourced?

Yes. All of our ingredients are sourced from farms we trust. We visit each farm regularly to ensure not only the quality of the ingredients but to ensure the farm meets are rigorous standards for humane treatment of both staff and animals.

What's the difference between BioLogics and Natural Selections?

We strive to make raw feeding as accessible as possible for as many pet parents as possible. We recognize feeding large dogs or a large pack of dogs can be expensive, and so we developed our BioLogics Line.

BioLogics uses the exact same recipes as our Natural Selections line. Both are complete and balanced for all life stages. Both are minimally processed, biologically-appropriate, and inspired by their ancestral diet. Both use human-grade ingredients only sourced from farms we trust.

The primary difference is that while Natural Selections uses only antibiotic-free meats and organic vegetables, BioLogics uses conventional ingredients. These farms still meet all of our ethical standards. But sourcing conventional ingredients for our BioLogics recipes allows us to price them about 15% lower than our Natural Selections line, making it a more accessible way to feed raw.
